Laceiras viaduct

A3 Motorway – National Road 303-Valença | Portugal | 1998

This viaduct’s decks are constituted by two parallel 22-span continuous structures. The decks are two independent prestressed concrete girders. Each deck is constituted by a slab and two longitudinal girders without cross-beams.

The total length of each deck is 972m distributed by two 36m end spans and twenty 45m intermediate spans. The total width of both decks is 32.20m, one 17.35m wide and the other 14.85m. The viaduct crosses the valley at a maximum height of 35m.

The decks were cast “in situ” using the span-by-span method with two under-slung self-launching girders. Some of the foundations are direct on granite but others are indirect on medium to severely altered granites.

The viaduct was completed in 1998.
